You don’t if you let the plant decides. Water evaporates from the pores on the underside of the leaves. Every time a droplet of water evaporates, the plant sucks in water from the soil.

With our self-watering planter, you don’t add water to the soil. You add water to the glass container. The plant will pull water from the soil and the dry soil will pull water through the hemp twine from the glass container.

You just have to make sure there is water in the glass container.
